Martijn Doolaard, Italy
The renovation of a secluded stone cabin in the Italian Alps is more than a project; it's a testament to human resilience and the transformative power of design. Martijn Doolaard, a Dutch photographer, filmmaker, and adventurer, has taken on this task single-handedly, bringing a unique vision and sense of purpose to the endeavor.
Having previously embarked on long-distance bicycle voyages from Amsterdam to Singapore and Vancouver to Patagonia, Martijn is now trading in the mobility of his bike for the permanence of stone, creating an enduring home in the wilderness.
At Studio SBM, we have provided valuable architectural advice, aiding Martijn in his mission to preserve the cabin's charm while infusing it with modern functionality. It was beautiful collaboration to translate his dream. Having a future perspective have helped him to point his goals.
Furthermore, we've transformed Martijn's project into lifelike 3D images, capturing not only the physical transformation but also the human story behind it. As we work on the architectural model, it's becoming a tangible symbol of Martijn's journey, his passion for travel, and his respect for nature
